The name Brian Pillman Jr. is expected to use will be a nod to his family when the ex-AEW star debuts on WWE NXT programming.
Earlier this week, WWE filed a trademark on the name Lexis King, which PW Insider Elite report is believed to be what Pillman will use going forward.
The name Lexis comes from Pillman’s half-sister Alexis, who died in a car accident in 2009. She was 26 years old.
The King part of the name comes from Pillman’s remaining sister, Skylar King. Pillman’s first match in December 2017 would see him work as Alex King in tribute to his sisters.
Pillman Jr. parted ways with AEW earlier this year after signing a contract with the company in 2020. He appeared for AEW in 2019 without a contract.

Brian Pillman Jr., the former AEW star, is set to make his debut on WWE NXT programming with a new ring name that pays tribute to his family. WWE recently filed a trademark for the name “Lexis King,” which is believed to be the name Pillman will use going forward.
The name “Lexis” is derived from Pillman’s half-sister, Alexis, who tragically passed away in a car accident in 2009 at the age of 26. The “King” part of the name comes from Pillman’s remaining sister, Skylar King. In his first match back in December 2017, Pillman worked under the name Alex King as a tribute to his sisters.
Pillman Jr. had previously been signed to AEW but parted ways with the company earlier this year after signing a contract in 2020. He had initially appeared for AEW in 2019 without a contract.
This new ring name not only reflects Pillman’s family ties but also adds a personal touch to his wrestling persona. It serves as a reminder of the importance of family and the impact they have had on his life and career.
