WWE NXT has highlighted the exceptional talent of Lexis King, formerly known as Brian Pillman Jr. at AEW. Unveiling a new persona, King asserts that his current run in WWE NXT is far superior to anything he ever presented at AEW.
The wrestling prodigy transitioned from AEW to WWE NXT under his pseudonym last year, intentionally leaving behind his birth name to establish an independent identity separate from his father’s legacy.
King opened up about his path and transformation during an episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast. He stated,
“It’s night and day, you know what I mean? I won’t harp on about Brian Pillman Jr.’s journey and the hurdles he faced at AEW, but my NXT experience, well, it’s another story. King is in control here. I’ve earned the respect from my peers, secured my place on the roster, and am recognized and appreciated for my contributions to the ring. It’s an altogether different atmosphere here.”
“Now, I’ve set firmly upon my path. I’m focused on my goals, which reflects no one’s effort but mine. The past scenario witnessed in Jacksonville, where Pillman Jr.’s attention was elsewhere, is far behind me. I was a no-show then, merely because I wasn’t centered on my goals, but it’s not the case at NXT. The Performance Centre is my strengthening ground. I’ve got budding wrestling hopefuls looking up to me in expectations, depending on the King to put on a good performance and set the bar.”
“So, I have no room left for any sort of frivolities or distractions anymore. I step into the gym, train under professional guidance, and continually aim to evolve into the best version of myself.”
While his progress and dominance have been evident and lauded in WWE NXT, King is yet to capture a championship. Last week’s match saw him suffer a loss at the hands of Eddy Thorpe.
In the podcast, King also engaged in a discourse about the ongoing amalgamation of WWE NXT and TNA Wrestling. For more details, follow this link.
