WWE commentator for NXT, Booker T, has recently expressed his awe for a particular rising Superstar on the premium brand. This star, says Booker T, reminds him significantly of wrestling legend Bill Goldberg.
On an episode of the widely-listened-to “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T discussed the striking resemblance between the NXT path of Oba Femi and the incredibly dominant career of Goldberg during his WCW run.
“Oba Femi’s wrestling style and performance is reminiscent of Bill Goldberg. He’s a rock-solid, impenetrable force who seems capable of taking down any opponent. However, the major distinction between the two is that Oba Femi spends more time inside the ring, experiencing the gritty aspects of the job significantly more than Goldberg did,” Booker T commented passionately.
In comparison to Goldberg, Booker T added, “Oba Femi’s emergent success mirrors that of Goldberg’s. He’s a hefty, commanding presence in the ring, manifesting an invincible persona that’s truly hard to beat. He indeed possesses all these coveted traits; however, he’s at an early stage in his career where he’s still grasping the nitty-gritty of the wrestling industry.”
Oba Femi soared to victory at the NXT Breakout Tournament held in the latter part of 2023, securing a title opportunity. The wrestler capitalised on this chance this year, clinching the North American Championship title.
If Oba Femi retains his stranglehold on the title for another month, he is set to break the current record for the longest reign as the NXT North American Champion.
