WWE Hall of Famer and NXT commentator Booker T has come around on Wes Lee after being far from impressed by the former North American Champion at the start.

Lee debuted in NXT alongside Nash Carter, but following Carter’s release, Lee became a popular singles star and holder of the North American Title.

During his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker said that Lee has made him a believer after the WCW alum initially saw Wes as one-dimensional. He said,

“Wes Lee didn’t have my vote when I first came to ‘NXT,’” Booker T admitted. “He just wasn’t a guy on my radar or anything like that. I just thought he was a one-dimensional guy that was going to go out there and do flips and pretty much that was it. But Wes Lee, you can tell Wes Lee [has] been in a fight before. You can tell he’s been in a couple of scraps.”

Booker also spoke about Lee’s recent defeat to new North American Champion Dominik Mysterio and what could be in the future of the ‘Kardiak Kid.’ He said,

“Wes Lee could possibly be the greatest North American Champion in ‘NXT’s’ history, and to win it again, to win it one more time on top of that … [would] solidify himself before he actually makes it to the main roster by having some notches on his belt.”

Lee will challenge Mysterio for the title at NXT Great American Bash this weekend in a triple-threat match that will include Mustafa Ali.
