On a recent edition of his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T questioned if AEW made the right move with their suspension of Sammy Guevara. He said,

“Why suspend somebody for having a bad spill? That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I’m not advocating for guys to go out there and just continue working. I mean, do spots and, you know, where they can hurt someone.

“That’s not what I’m saying, but I’m just saying accidents happen all the time. I don’t know, I don’t know what the protocol in AEW is.”

Guevara was suspended for not following protocol during a match with Jeff Hardy in which the latter suffered a broken nose.

It was feared that Jeff may have suffered a concussion during the match. Guevara did not stop to let a concussion test happen at the moment.

It was later determined that Jeff had not suffered a concussion during the match, but the three-time former WWE World Champion has not wrestled since.

Kevin Nash recently weighed in on the matter and believes Guevara should be suspended IF he acted maliciously.

The recent suspension of professional wrestler Sammy Guevara by All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has sparked a debate within the wrestling community. While some question the severity of the punishment, others argue that it was necessary to uphold safety protocols and prevent potential injuries.

During a match with Jeff Hardy, Guevara failed to follow protocol after it was suspected that Hardy had suffered a broken nose and possibly a concussion. Guevara did not stop the match to allow for a concussion test, which raised concerns among both fans and fellow wrestlers.

Booker T, a WWE Hall of Famer and host of the “Hall of Fame” podcast, expressed his doubts about AEW’s decision to suspend Guevara. He questioned why someone should be suspended for a mere accident, emphasizing that accidents happen frequently in wrestling. However, he clarified that he was not advocating for wrestlers to continue working if they could potentially harm someone.

On the other hand, Kevin Nash, another wrestling veteran, supported the suspension but only if Guevara had acted maliciously. Nash’s stance highlights the importance of intent and whether Guevara deliberately ignored safety protocols or simply made a mistake.

The issue of safety in professional wrestling is a contentious one. While the nature of the sport involves physicality and risk-taking, it is crucial for promotions to prioritize the well-being of their performers. Concussions and other injuries can have long-lasting effects on wrestlers’ health and careers.

AEW’s decision to suspend Guevara reflects their commitment to maintaining a safe working environment. By enforcing strict protocols and holding wrestlers accountable for their actions, the promotion aims to prevent potential injuries and protect its talent.

It is worth noting that Guevara’s suspension was not solely based on the incident with Jeff Hardy. AEW likely considered his overall conduct and adherence to safety guidelines before making their decision. This demonstrates the promotion’s dedication to maintaining a high standard of professionalism among its roster.

In the world of professional wrestling, accidents are bound to happen. However, it is essential for wrestlers to prioritize safety and follow established protocols to minimize the risk of serious injuries. AEW’s suspension of Sammy Guevara serves as a reminder that even unintentional lapses in judgment can have consequences.

As the wrestling industry continues to evolve, it is crucial for promotions to prioritize the well-being of their performers. By enforcing strict safety measures and holding wrestlers accountable for their actions, organizations like AEW can create a safer environment for their talent and ensure the longevity of the sport.
