The latest episode of The Hall Of Fame with Booker T and Brad Gilmore is up and he two talk the major hype that WWE has been building around Edge vs. Randy Orton At Backlash and it being billed as “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.”
“To hell, I already had that! Ya already seen it!” a mustachioed Booker jokes at first, but Gilmore asks the two-time WWE Hall Of Famer if he’d like that tagline floating over him. Knowing the two stars, Booker gave his thoughts as to what he expects from both and their ability to deliver in the spotlight.
“You got Randy Orton. He’s my guy. He’s one of the best. He sat under the learning tree so I gotta give him his props. He knows what he’s doing and then you got Edge on the other hand who’s back to finishing.
“I wrestled Edge at WrestleMania. It was a good night. It was a good night for me because Edge is a performer that works at a very high level. I think these two guys can go out and bring you to the point to where you say, ‘Man, this was a really, really really good match.’ One thing about Edge, what’s going to be unique about seeing Edge go out and perform, if he can pull it off, that’s the question mark, if he can pull it off, you’re going to go see a guy go out and do something that you don’t see these guys do today, alright? And that’s go out and give you certain moveset, but the storytelling is going to be something that is going to be something that you go, ‘Wow, okay.’
Ultimately, the two’s veteran savvy is what is the hook for Booker.
“So that’s what I’m wondering, is it going to have that Shawn Michaels Undertaker WrestleMania feel in Houston, TX where you saw the two oldest guys on the card go out and perform better than anybody on the card. Are we going to see something like this? Do we have the right two guys to actually be able to go out there and pull something off like that? I think so.
“I’m looking forward to seeing if Edge still got something left in the tank. Is he rolling on fumes and just trying to get to the next gas station? Is it going to be one of those types of deals? I’m looking forward to finding out what’s gonna happen. Is Randy Orton gonna go out here and push this guy to the brink of exhaustion and he just has to say, ‘Please! Just don’t beat me!’ One of those types of deals, I don’t know! I’m looking forward to it just like everybody else.”
