In a recent episode of his podcast, “Hall of Fame”, pro wrestling icon, Booker T, wholeheartedly defended the decision for Bill Goldberg’s final WWE match to be against GUNTHER. He had a biting response for critics who were unhappy with this choice.
In a potentially climactic face-off, Goldberg is set to take on GUNTHER for the much-coveted World Heavyweight Title. This thrilling event will feature as the centerpiece of WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event XL.

Addressing the critics, Booker T firmly said: “I want to address all the people from Goldberg’s era and those complaining about him. Questions like ‘why does Goldberg get the shot? Why is he in this bout and why isn’t someone else competing? Especially one of the younger competitors’ — to them I say, the very reason he’s taking on the challenge is identical to the reason any of you would have jumped at the opportunity if WWE invited you for a final match with Gunther at a prime-time slot. So, anyone ridiculing the decision needs to zip it, without doubt.”
Booker T shares his personal feelings on the matter, saying, “I am aware that if they had rang me up, I wouldn’t have hesitated. I am confident that anyone in a similar position, capable of physically stepping into that ring, would have done the same. For the younger lads disgruntled by this, you should aspire to reach Goldberg’s stature one day so that the company feels you have so much to offer, even at an advanced age, that they would bring you back for the fans’ delight one last time. You should fervently wish to be in that position someday. And let me tell you, time soars. It advances faster than you can imagine. So, I am urging Goldberg, go out there and do us proud. Give it your all just one last time, for my sake.”
