During a recent episode of his podcast, “Hall of Fame,” professional wrestling legend, Booker T, spoke at length about the significance of the recently launched WWE United States Women’s Championship. A few highlights from his engaging discussion in the podcast are provided in the paragraphs that follow:
He shared his thoughts on the introduction of the WWE United States Women’s Championship, saying it’s a much-needed addition, for it lends an extra dimension to the show. He pointed out that it provides something tangible for the women to strive for, facilitates the demonstration of climbing up the ranks without being limited to two tiers, and just simplifies the business aspect of it.
He continued his point, declaring, “In this business, what’s your primary objective? It’s to win a Championship. It doesn’t have to be the world title for your initial win. The joy of that first win is unparalleled. I can cite my example when I won the Television Championship. That win was an affirmation that I was on the right track and making my mark in the game, despite it being the title at the lowest tier, as some might call it. And I strongly believe that these young women equally need that affirmation.”
The conversation also steered towards Chelsea Green, wherein he agreed that she can be considered a female counterpart of The Miz. He praised her for being all about receiving the script and adding value to it, which he emphasizes routinely in his discussions.
