Booker T recently exposed what he and CM Punk conversed about following a rumored altercation during a WWE NXT event earlier this year.
In February, Booker T hinted he and Punk “nearly got into a dispute” during a taping, leading to speculation that Punk’s WWE stint might conclude similarly to his time in AEW.
Subsequently, the double-inducted Hall of Famer confessed that his allusion to a clash with Punk was merely a “clickbait tactic” and that he was “simply joking.”
During a recent episode of his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T deliberated on CM Punk’s presence at this week’s NXT TV tapings and the nature of their conversation. He remarked,
“We exchanged words. Candidly speaking, it was refreshing. I am certain that people were taken aback when they saw that. But, CM Punk and I never genuinely had any contention. We sincerely never did. I am aware that people speculated that while he was in AEW, but I don’t believe CM Punk and I ever truly clashed. Did I express some opinions about CM Punk when he was active in the UFC? Yes, I did, but I don’t believe they were ever disparaging or mean-spirited towards him in any way.”
“Even when he was with AEW, like when he made his inaugural appearance. I commented that the promo didn’t resonate with me properly. I suggested that he could have done it slightly differently, and please bear in mind, it’s just constructive feedback. It’s not meant to undermine or slander CM Punk in any way whatsoever.”
Booker T further mentioned that he and Punk are too advanced in age to entertain petty feuds and reflected on a casual conversation with Punk during a recent air journey.
Punk is set to come back to WWE NXT for the October 1st debut episode on The CW Network where he will adjudicate the NXT championship bout between Ethan Page and Trick Williams.
Following the premiere of WWE NXT on The CW, Punk is scheduled to enter a Hell in a Cell match against Drew McIntyre at WWE Bad Blood 2024.
