Bobby Steveson, also known as Demon Kemp, caught the viewers’ attention by betraying The Diamond Mine in a plot twist during NXT in 2022. The sequence of events led to a showdown between Steveson and Julius Creed in a thrilling Ambulance Match at the Halloween Havoc that same year.
In a recent appearance on “The Wrestling Classic” podcast, Steveson reflected on the dramatic series of events and his own experiences throughout. Here’s a look at some excerpts from the interview:
Touching upon on the Ambulance Match, Steveson said, “Suddenly, I was thrown into the deep end of the pool. Initially, the match wasn’t intended for me. It had been planned as Julius versus Roderick. You would know this from the narrative, there is an undeniable blame on Roddy’s part, a factor we were slowly realizing. However, there seems to have been an injury or some similar scenario which I’m not entirely aware of, hence, I won’t delve into that.”
Switching the discussion to his sensational turn against The Diamond Mine, Steveson revealed, “Out of the blue, I was instructed to ‘make the turn.’ We had featured in several show finales, but this was a defining moment primarily orchestrated for me, involving the execution of a chair shot. Only eight months into the profession, I was acutely aware of its magnitude. I vividly remember thinking, if I fail to deliver this chair shot accurately, it spells the end of my career. The risk was immense; a missed shot could’ve meant I’d vanish overnight.”
