At WWE Clash of Champions, WWE United States Champion Bobby Lashley defended his title against Apollo Crews. Lashley defeated Crews to win the title at WWE Payback. Crews and Lashley felt each other out early on, but the challenger took control with a clothesline and a moonsault off the apron. A diving crossbody gave Crews even more momentum. Lashley dropped Crews with a flatliner and gained the upper hand. Crews sent Lashley crashing face-first into the ring post. The challenger drilled Lashley with a kick, military pressed him and hit a standing moonsault.

A superplex earned Lashley a two count. Crews hit a standing Shooting Star Press and a frog splash for another two count. Lashley floored Crews with a modified spinebuster. Crews tapped to the Full Lashley, now called the Hurt Lock, so Lashley retained the title.
