Bobby Fish has a new lease on his wrestling life.

Bobby Fish appeared on Busted Open Radio and talked about his upcoming wrestling appearances, one of which came as a surprise to fans watching AEW programming on Wednesday night. Shortly after Sammy Guevara defeated Miro for the TNT Championship on Dynamite, Fish tweeted a challenge to the new champion about wanting a shot at the title. The post appeared to be a playful challenge, but Fish and AEW shocked fans during a Rhodes To The Top commercial break when Tony Schiavone confirmed the match was actually happening on October 6.

Asked how he ‘cut the line’ for the TNT Championship shot, Fish said he could have done nothing, but he chose to be proactive and threw his name in the hat.

“I’m home watching AEW just like everybody else and I see this thing go down, and I’m thinking to myself, ‘OK… fortune favors the bold. And that title and this mustache would look frickin’ fantastic together. And I’m like, ‘I can either sit on my hands and do nothing,” Fish explained, “or I can put my name in the ring’ so to speak, and see what happens. And that’s what I did, Bully Ray.”

Bobby Fish is also set to appear at MLW Fightland on October 2 as one of the participants in the 2021 Opera Cup tournament. Asked how he’s feeling ahead of his MLW debut, Fish said the Opera Cup was an opportunity he sought out, then said he’s looking forward to get the ball rolling on his next chapter.

“It’s friggin’ awesome. I specifically wanted to do the Opera Cup, the level of talent in [the tournament] is amazing. It caters very much to a style that I’m very familiar with and I’m really looking forward to mixing it up with everybody in MLW and in the Opera Cup,” Fish said. “Not looking past anything but Saturday at this point, you know?

“I feel like I was ready in my career for a fresh coat of paint, so to speak, and here we are. It wasn’t orchestrated and I didn’t seek it out, some things fell into place and it just happened and I have a new lease on my wrestling life. I can’t wait to go at this thing guns blazing, and Saturday will be the start of that. I feel like I’ve already got that ball rolling,” Fish noted, “but I’m ready to keep it rolling and accelerate everything.”

Fish also talked about being out of touch with things since he was in WWE for about four years, but said he’s getting reacquainted with the wrestling world and it’s “exciting as all hell.”
