Throughout WWE LFG, BJ Ray and Bubba Ray Dudley, also known as Bully Ray, have been found in numerous altercations that have managed to catch fire on the various WWE social media channels.
During a recent guest appearance on the “Shak Wrestling” podcast, BJ Ray shed some light on his televised conflicts with the inducted WWE Hall of Famer.
Below are some highlights from the podcast:
On the authenticity of his on-screen persona: “We’re in a distinctive chapter of this industry, the wrestling industry, especially considering WWE. We’ve people such as Triple H, Shawn, trying to peel back the veil of kayfabe somewhat. For me, my perspective always veers towards entertainment. Of course, you need to crank it up when the cameras are present. As for me, all I can say is, I am just myself. Many have entered this industry in the past, created characters and sketches, whatever it may be. However, there’s nothing artificial about this, man. Everything viewers have seen on the shows is entirely genuine, with nothing directed in any particular manner.”
Discussing the friction with Bully Ray: “Interestingly, I was about to state that I dislike Bubba, but I actually kind of enjoy his company. He’s comical, bro. People are fond of him. Being one of those types who can sit somewhere like a café enjoying the observation of people because they are entertaining, Bubba captures my interest. He’s incredibly entertaining due to the fact that I know numerous people like him, who feel self-important, act self-centered and possess bad tempers, yet he still has an entertaining side. Do I respect him? No, that’s what I meant to convey. I lack respect for Bubba Ray Dudley. But, is he entertaining? I can’t deny it, man. He’s downright hilarious. I aim to remain true to myself. I suppose it’s a two-way street.”
