Biggest Omission Missing From The AEW Full Gear 2024 Card? | Question Of The Day

Greetings to another session of eWrestlingNews Inquiry of the Day!

The roster for AEW Full Gear 2024 is chock-full with barely any space for enhancements on the Zero Hour, no fresh announcements for even the pre-show, making it likely we have our final line-up for the event.

Of course, it’s not possible for everyone to be a part of each show. However, at times, there are conspicuous absences that lead us to question why a certain someone warmed the bench.

The query I want you to consider today is, “Who do you think is the most unexpected absence from the event or who should have been in the line-up but is giving this show a pass?”

We welcome your thoughts, please share in the comments section below.

My thoughts…

Chris Jericho would have been my choice if they hadn’t unveiled that he would be crossing paths with Tomohiro Ishii on the ensuing week’s Dynamite. The same applies to Kazuchika Okada, particularly given the hype around him being the kickoff for the Continental Classic next week.

Even though contenders like Adam Cole aren’t competing, I envisage that they’ll appear in one form or another, so I’m not counting them out. This also includes the remaining members of The Don Callis Family, so, regrettably, Konosuke Takeshita is off my list. Taking into consideration similar factors for the rest of the Death Riders and more, the one glaring omission for me is Christian Cage.

Despite displaying robust consistency for several months, it seems like his feud with Hook didn’t gain enough momentum to make the card or be showcased during Dynamite. Granted, I have been rather detached of late due to other pressing commitments, but the silence around this seems strange given the broader context.

Ricochet did cross my mind, but with the way he is being handled and lack of a noteworthy adversary for him to combative with, I decided to pass. There’s still a chance he might be put up randomly against a name drawn from a hat like Dralistico or Action Andretti, or he may secure a decent spot in the Continental Classic kickoff next Wednesday.

Lastly, the one other name that would close off my top 3 picks (excluding Hook alongside Cage) would have been Darby Allin. However, his imminent bout with Claudio Castagnoli on Dynamite seems like Tony Khan’s effort to tackle that issue.
