Professional wrestler Big E has been absent from the ring since March 2022 due to a catastrophic neck injury. The injury occurred from an incorrectly executed suplex by opponent Ridge Holland.
In an unexpected twist on the December 2nd episode of WWE RAW, Big E was removed from The New Day group by fellow members Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston. The wrestlers criticized him for seemingly putting his new life before the group.
Big E clarified the nature of his injury during an interview on “The Mike Broomhead Show.” He stated, “I broke my neck, two and a half years ago, in three places, including my C1 in two places. I still haven’t been cleared. Thankfully, I feel great and don’t have any issues, nothing like that. Didn’t need surgery. I was in a hard collar for three months. There are very real risks. We had a suplex that went wrong and I’ve been out since. I’m grateful to have no issues, no pain, nothing like that.”
Despite his injury, Big E remains an active face in WWE, appearing on WWE Kickoff shows and serving as an ambassador for the Fiesta Bowl. However, it remains uncertain if he will make a comeback in the ring.
