In a recent episode of the “Getting Over” podcast, WWE superstar Big E contemplated the prospect of WWE parting ways with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, his comrades in The New Day.
He shared, “Yeah, you know, obviously those are my brothers for life. There exists a bit of a predicament. We’ve spent quite some time at the zenith of the tag team section. With Kofi [Kingston] as World Champion, my own shot at being World Champion, and [Xavier] Woods as King of the Ring. Post our stint in the NXT, I’m left wondering, where do we fit in now? I feel it’s something of a junction for them in figuring out their next move.”
Big E added, “I sense that this is a challenge they need to face. Something they need to manage, work it out. Kofi is now in his 40s, and Woods is approaching his late 30s. I firmly believe they still possess a lot more to contribute, and the manner in which they achieve this — as a group or individually? It’s an intriguing period for them to see which route they wish to take.”
In the recent past, Karrion Kross and The Final Testament have aimed to create discord within The New Day, with hopes to lure Xavier Woods onto their team.
Since banding together as The New Day in 2014, the group held the distinguished record for the longest reign as WWE Tag Team Champions up until 2022.
Big E had a pause in his wrestling career since March of 2022 due to a neck injury. He recently discussed what would be required for his return to the ring.
