Bianca Belair is ready to prove herself on a new level in the Royal Rumble Match this weekend, and she wants to use the match to continue to validate WWE’s faith in her.

Belair recently spoke with Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post. She looked back on her success in the Royal Rumble last year, where she had a record-breaking performance, and she pointed to that show as a major stepping stone.

“‘I think last year being that they told me the night before I was going to be in the Royal Rumble and I was the second entrant and I was starting the match… that right there told me that they also had faith in me…,” said Belair via Staszewski. “‘And they handed me the ball saying, “you asked us to put you in the game, show us what you can do with it.” I think I was able to prove that to them last year and I think every single time I step out there I’m proving that to them even more.'”

“The EST” explained that she wants to be a featured player, and she hopes to be the kind of Superstar that’s always at least considered for the “big moments” that unfold on WWE programming. Belair’s rapid rise on WWE SmackDown has largely stemmed from her charismatic character, and she stated that she’s simply playing an exaggerated person of herself. Belair described that this character is strongly linked to her perseverance through some of the obstacles she has discussed recently.

“‘When I’m out there, I think about everything that I went through,” said Belair via Staszewski. “‘I was living for everyone else. I was seeking everyone else’s validation. I was shrinking myself to try to figure out who I am. When I’m out there, I feel like I am the person that I wanted to be when I was a little girl.

“‘I was the person I was trying to be in college, but I was just so lost and I made it through and now I can be big and I can be bold and I know who I am and I want to celebrate and embrace that. I know that I’m good at something and you shouldn’t be ashamed of what you’re good at or shy away from it. Now that I know who I am, I’m so proud of it.'”

Belair is currently thriving on the blue brand, as she has one of the most likeable personalities on WWE programming. Many people have rallied behind Belair because they can relate to her struggles. She’ll aim to score the biggest win of her career this weekend at WWE Royal Rumble.
