Since May 2023, Jamie Hayter’s wrestling career has been on hold due to an injury sustained.
As revealed by Fightful Select, Hayter made an appearance backstage at a recent AEW Dynamite TV taping session for annual physical examinations of the roster. Internal sources hinted at some progress toward a comeback, however, definitive plans for Hayter’s return remain undisclosed. The sustained injury has been deemed as “extremely severe.”
Observations from multiple AEW insiders noted the presence of Hayter backstage at a recent AEW Dynamite TV recording gathering as the most uplifting update since her injury, although she and a few other off-screen talents were there solely for health checks. Notably, Hayter’s infrequent presence backstage suggests an imminent return might not be in the cards. She reportedly remains focused on her recovery process.
While the prospects of Hayter making a comeback this year have been discussed, nothing concrete has been decided. Some of the talent mentioned that they were touted for matches involving Hayter at some point in the coming year.
In related news from the AEW universe, Chris Jericho, shared his insights on a variety of subjects on the “Big Show with Rusic & Rose” podcast. This included his relationship with his ex-WWE colleagues, and his conviction about the thriving state of the wrestling industry. He said,
“The camaraderie resembles that of soldiers in battle. I have casual talks with a few of the guys occasionally. There aren’t any conflicts. Whenever we stumble upon one another on the street or at the airport, it’s like a joyous reunion. They are on their journey, we’re on ours. We’re all working toward elevating the wrestling industry, collectively reaping profits.”
Jericho added, “In my opinion, wrestling enjoys a broader fanbase now than it ever did. Although the Attitude Era had a significant buzz, in terms of monetary growth and income generation, the industry has never been as prosperous.”
