The buzz regarding Shane McMahon potentially joining All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has recently hit a fever pitch among wrestling fans. This began when Jim Ross brought up the idea on his Grilling JR podcast, opining that such a bold move could actually succeed, despite its seemingly outlandish nature.
In the most recent episode of the podcast, Conrad Thompson, Ross’ partner on the show, noted that the speculation might not be entirely groundless. He mentioned having heard from a knowledgeable friend that Shane McMahon had expressed some preliminary interest through informal inquiries.
However, Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter tipped the scales in a different direction. According to Meltzer, those within the AEW circle who are presumably in the know have yet to confirm these claims or have merely echoed what Thompson previously indicated.
In the midst of these rumors, AEW President, Tony Khan, weighed in. He clarified that he has never had any direct communication with Shane McMahon. Meltzer shared,
“An interesting piece of information we received was about an informal chat between McMahon and a former WWE talent who’s now with AEW. It wasn’t a recruitment drive or anything, mostly casual banter. McMahon, in passing, made a comment something along the lines of, ‘Can you imagine if I made an entrance on Dynamite?’ The comment didn’t seem to carry any genuine intent, hence explaining why AEW’s key personnel seemed oblivious to it before Thompson’s disclosure. Thompson, himself, didn’t make it sound like a likely event, just shared it as an anecdote from his knowledge of their conversation.”
