A WWE Raw Women’s Championship match in between Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch opened in 2015’s SummerSlam occasion. It almost didn’t take place.
After the match saw the launching of Damage CTRL (Bayley, IYO SKY & & Dakota Kai), causing Belair and Lynch collaborating to stand versus the debuting trio. It marked Lynch’s babyface turn prior to she disappeared due to an injury.
While speaking with Stephen A. Smith on his ‘Know Mercy’ podcast, Lynch kept in mind that the match almost didn’t take place.
” I understand in 2015 at SummerSlam, type of, needed to battle a bit to get our females’s championship on the program and when Logan Paul has a match and Pat McAfee has a match and Seth Rollins does not have a match, he’s been working all year and when Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair nearly didn’t have a match, then I believe that’s a little bit of an issue and I believe that can be a little an issue, personally and from a work ethic viewpoint that you put all of this effort into this all year around and when the huge programs come, the huge arenas come and there’s 80,000 individuals, you wan na get your flowers for that effort that you’ve put in all year around so that we can do this, so that we’re on television 52 weeks a year simply eliminating the video game. You do not desire someone to take your area. Not someone who does not do this all the time.”
