Prior to signing with WWE, Bayley competed as Davina Rose on the independent scene for SHIMMER and other promotions. She said,

I would say Candice LeRae, she was the only California girl at that time, so I remember seeing her and just being like, ‘Man, if I can wrestle her and get over to Southern California, that would be really cool and I could learn a lot.’ Sara Del Ray was a big one. When I first started watching SHIMMER DVDs, it was the Canadian Ninjas who were so awesome. I loved their character stuff, I loved their timing in the ring, and I just loved their personalities and everything. It’s Portia Perez & Nicole Matthews.”

During a recent virtual signing for “Captain’s Corner,” former WWE Superstar Riddick Moss discussed his time as Madcap Moss in WWE and how much he enjoyed that character.

Moss said, “The first time I got called up, it was like very little direction. It was all, it kind of happened to where, long story short, I kind of just got called up because you didn’t have anything for me in NXT. When I went up, that first day I had no idea what I was doing. They were like, ‘You’re gonna be with Mojo,’ then I was his bodyguard, and then two weeks later, I turned on him, and then we did this really fun shoot in a toy factory, Funko toy factory, and I had basically no direction for what my character was. So I kind of just decided to be an arrogant 24/7 Champion and kind of just started saying some of the stuff I would say in promo class as Riddick Moss. It was really fun, and I felt like I was building some momentum, then COVID hit and that kind of put a stop to everything for a while. Then I came back as Raw Underground Riddick Moss, which was also super fun. Totally different than what I was doing before. Then right as that was kind of taking off, I tore my ACL. Then, when I came back later, the next time, that was where I did a lot of direction, where that was Madcap Moss. That was a lot of direction, but I still had to make it my own. But you can’t imagine how much fun that was. I could do whatever I wanted because it was just so goofy.”

Moss was released from his WWE contract in September 2023.

Bayley, one of the most popular and influential female wrestlers in WWE, recently shared the names of the women who have influenced her wrestling career. On the “Under the Ring” podcast, Bayley mentioned Candice LeRae and Sara del Rey among others.

Before joining WWE, Bayley competed as Davina Rose on the independent wrestling scene for promotions like SHIMMER. She expressed her admiration for Candice LeRae, who was the only California girl at that time. Bayley saw LeRae as a role model and hoped to wrestle her and learn from her in Southern California. Another influential figure for Bayley was Sara del Rey, whom she discovered while watching SHIMMER DVDs. Bayley loved the Canadian Ninjas’ character work, timing in the ring, and overall personalities. Portia Perez and Nicole Matthews, who portrayed the Canadian Ninjas, left a lasting impression on Bayley.

In a virtual signing for “Captain’s Corner,” former WWE Superstar Riddick Moss discussed his time as Madcap Moss in WWE and how much he enjoyed playing that character. Moss revealed that when he was first called up to the main roster, he received little direction for his character. He started as Mojo Rawley’s bodyguard but eventually turned on him. Moss had no specific direction for his character, so he decided to be an arrogant 24/7 Champion and incorporated elements from his promo class as Riddick Moss. Unfortunately, his momentum was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Moss later returned as Raw Underground Riddick Moss, which was a completely different character. However, his run was cut short due to an ACL injury. When he returned again, he portrayed Madcap Moss, a character that provided him with a lot of direction but still allowed him to make it his own. Moss described the experience as incredibly fun and enjoyed the freedom to be goofy.

It is worth noting that Riddick Moss was released from his WWE contract in September 2023.
