Recently, chatter on social media hinted at the likelihood of Shinsuke Nakamura parting ways with WWE. This speculation, first attributed to PWTorch’s Wade Keller, hinted at a quickened US Title rematch between Nakamura and LA Knight that was originally set for WrestleMania 41. In the gossip mill, this matchup was proposed to have been hurriedly scheduled to take place on a recent SmackDown episode. However, according to sources besides Fightful Select, there’s no official evidence backing this assertion from WWE.
This speculation also found a mention in Dave Meltzer’s conversation, referencing WWE’s denial of any reality in the conjecture around Nakamura making an exit. On being probed if Nakamura’s recent SmackDown match would be his swan song, WWE remained unresponsive. As per the currently available information, Nakamura’s contractual obligations with WWE remain intact. Meltzer quoted,
“I am not sure what the Nakamura thing is other than he’s not being released from his contract, he’s still under contract, he’s still with the company.”
After maintaining a rather low profile on WWE TV in 2024, following his drafting to SmackDown, Nakamura made a noticeable comeback in November, engaging in a feud with LA Knight. This showdown concluded with Nakamura clinching the US Title at Survivor Series, albeit losing it to Knight in the recent SmackDown.
