Following his match against Jay White on AEW Collision, Kevin Knight has officially been roped in by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Knight’s contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) had run its course in January during the place setting of Wrestle Kingdom 19. Despite NJPW’s attempts to keep him, it was widely predicted he’d align with a State-side promotion.

Early discussions between Knight, Tony Khan, and Rocky Romero took place in early February, while Knight was also partaking in a Ring of Honor (ROH) TV match with AR Fox. Potential negotiations with WWE were also part of the rumor mill, with sources suggesting that Knight’s would have kick-started his journey with a stint in NXT. A staff member from WWE Performance Center remarked Knight’s impressive track record of wrestling in multiple big ticket promotions like NJPW, CMLL, AEW, ROH, Major League Wrestling (MLW) and Total Nonstop Action (TNA).

TNA insiders suggested that Knight’s return was highly unlikely unless he got on board with WWE. Knight had previously had a run in TNA during the first quarter of 2024 and also guested at MLW shows in the previous year.

Knight’s AEW in-ring debut took place on Collision where he faced defeat at the hands of Jay White. The show was broadcast live on TNT and also made available on Max.
