CM Punk and Jack Perry were involved in a physical altercation backstage at Sunday’s AEW All In 2023 pay-per-view event.
Haus of Wrestling has revealed more details on the controversial backstage incident which conflicts with the previous report.
Punk was reportedly waiting in the gorilla position before his match with Samoa Joe when Perry walked up to him after losing the FTW Title to HOOK.
Punk asked Perry if he had something to say, and the matter escalated from there.
Perry reportedly told Punk to “do something about it.” This caused Punk to shove Perry, who shoved him back, and Punk then put him in a chokehold.
Punk reportedly considered this as a way to prevent the situation from getting any worse, and as a trained fighter he didn’t want to fight Perry. The latest report suggests that no punches were thrown.
Punk went back to his dressing room, cleaned up, and spoke with security following the incident.
Knowing that things had gotten out of hand, Punk allegedly asked the security personnel if it would be better if he left Wembley Stadium.
The security personnel informed Punk that while no one had asked him to leave, it would be easier if he did.
Punk agreed and walked out on his own accord. He then went to his hotel and ordered Nandos for talents he planned to meet up with after All In 2023.
There hasn’t been a lot of communication between Punk and AEW since the incident, if any.
As we previously reported here on eWn, Punk and Perry have both reportedly been suspended while an internal investigation is currently underway. Neither man will work the All Out 2023 pay-per-view event in Chicago this Sunday.
