Backstage Update On Changes Made To Friday’s WWE SmackDown

As previously reported, WWE made various changes to last Friday’s episode of SmackDown as there were talents pulled for medical reasons. 

The reasons are related to COVID-19. Pwinsider reported one of the segments nixed was announcing Asuka’s opponents for SummerSlam. The in-ring segment featuring Bianca Belair, Asuka, Charlotte and Adam Pearce was pulled late in the day. 

Also, the originally planned IYO SKY vs. Zelina Vega bout was nixed, with Flair replacing Vega. 

Dave Meltzer noted that Flair vs. SKY was thrown together at the last minute due to the nixed championship announcement segment.
