At the beginning of this year, Becky Lynch lost her Women’s World Title to Liv Morgan during the King and Queen of the Ring pay-per-view event. Following the loss, she had a Steel Cage competition with Morgan on RAW, after which Lynch’s contract with WWE ended on June 1st.
Recently, during an episode of the “Backstage Pass” podcast, Jonathan Coachman made a statement suggesting that Lynch requested an annual salary of two million dollars from WWE, a proposal which was reportedly declined by WWE. Coachman stated,
“Roman’s at that 15-20 million mark, and TKO doesn’t want to pay anybody. […] Then you got Cody Rhodes, who’s making 10-15 reportedly. Then Seth, who is her [Becky Lynch] better half, he’s probably in that three to seven million range. So reportedly, she was asking for over two million a year. […] They didn’t do it..[…] If they paid her, she’d be on the show. And they’re desperate for females right now.”
Contradicting Coachman’s claims, Fightful Select has reported that Lynch and WWE continue to have a positive relationship. The company has given Lynch the freedom to decide when she wishes to make her comeback. It has been stated that if Lynch had wanted to enter an agreement prior to her break, WWE would have gladly agreed.
Moreover, it appears that the reported million salary demand by Lynch is not accurate. If Lynch had actually made such a demand, the company would have positively responded, given that the current remuneration for top wrestlers in both WWE and AEW exceeds this amount.
