Big E and Ronda Rousey’s Road To WrestleMania 39 have been full of uncertainties, but it appears that WWE has decided their fate for this year’s flagship event.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Big E, who has been shelved with a broken neck, was at least considered to appear at the show at a certain point. The idea was that he would be in a skit with The New Day. However, this idea was pitched before Kofi Kingston underwent ankle surgery. It remains to be seen if The New Day will appear together at the event.
Furthermore, there were plans for a Women’s Tag team Title Match at WrestleMania 39, with Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler taking on Damage CTRL. WWE has made the decision to drop the match.
It’s possible that Rousey’s fractured arm could have been the reason, as she wouldn’t have been around to feature in the build to the title match. The belief is that WWE did not want to rush the match for WrestleMania 39 if they couldn’t build to it effectively.
Rousey is still set to appear at WrestleMania 39, and it’s now been confirmed that she and Baszler have been added to the four-team women’s tag team match. They join Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan and Natalya & Shotzi as confirmed competitors in the bout. Carmella & Chelsea Green are expected to be added as the final team next week.
