Backstage Note On When WWE Began Planning Out Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar Feud

This week on RAW after WrestleMania 39, Brock Lesnar brutally assaulted Cody Rhodes in the main event after the duo was scheduled to team up against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa in tag team action. Lesnar turned heel and destroyed Rhodes to close out the show.

Fightful Select is reporting that WWE’s plan for the Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar feud was planned well before WrestleMania 39, and also before Vince McMahon made his way back to WWE.

Additionally, sources within WWE suggest that Lesnar was aware of his post-WrestleMania 39 direction nearly a month ago. It’s unknown if the entirety of the WWE creative team knew about the storyline, but The Beast was said to have been well aware of his rivalry with Cody. WWE also hinted at Brock’s heel turn ahead of his WrestleMania match with Omos during some of their interactions.

WWE’s plan to have Lesnar stand side-by-side with Cody before blasting him with the F-5 was handed out to The Beast about a month prior to RAW after WrestleMania 39.
