Jay White has officially signed with AEW and the Kiwi wrestler debuted for the company this week on Dynamite.
According to Fightful Select, White has signed a multi-year contract with AEW. The deal was in place before WrestleMania 39 and WWE sources were aware that the NJPW star would not be signing with Vince McMahon’s company.
WWE was interested in White following his free agency and confident about signing him. According to WWE higher-ups, the company “failed to communicate properly along the process” and AEW signing him might have been the result of Vince McMahon’s return to WWE’s Board of Directors in January and the lack of main roster signings since.
The WWE creative was said to have tentative plans for White, and as of last week, some in the company still hoped that WWE would indeed obtain the signature of The Switchblade.
