Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed earlier today that at one point, the wrestling world could have seen Cody Rhodes make a heel turn and join forces with The Rock to take on John Cena in the build-up to WrestleMania. However, this reported proposition was dismissed, according to information verified by Fightful Select. The only part of this report that is certain, is that Rhodes was approached with this plan but declined.
Subsequently, Cena was approached with the same option and gave his approval, while The Rock was in total agreement with this narrative.
Although this news elicited significant reactions online, it was merely a traditional part of the WrestleMania planning process intended to stir excitement. A number of individuals closely associated with Cody were not privy to this proposal.
Furthermore, a WrestleMania match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes has been on the cards since November.
