Backstage News On Who Decided To Bring Back The WWE World Heavyweight Title

On WWE Monday Night Raw, Triple H brought back the WWE World Heavyweight Title and announced the inaugural champion would be crowned at Night of the Champions on May 27th in Saudi Arabia.

There has been some speculation as to whether it was a Vince McMahon call. 

Sports Illustrated reports that the decision was Triple H’s idea and that McMahon was not involved. The reason Triple H is behind the idea is because of him wanting each brand to have its own champion, as Roman Reigns, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, mostly works SmackDown events.

Whatever brand Reigns is not drafted to in the WWE Draft will have the World Heavyweight Title.
