Backstage News On Plans For WWE Payback 2023

WWE Payback takes place on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. PA and will air live on Peacock. 

As previously reported, WWE advertised on this week’s Main Event and internationally that Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus will take place at the show inside a steel cage. 

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Jimmy vs. Jey Uso is expected to take place at a later date “for more build time and likely a bigger show.”

Also, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is not booked for the show. 

Judgment Day, Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair, Asuka, and Gunther are also being advertised for Payback. 

Based on what WWE has done on television, Seth Rollins is expected to defend his World Heavyweight Title against Shinsuke Nakamura while The Miz will likely wrestle LA Knight.
