On this week’s episode of AEW Rampage, there was a segment featuring Harley Cameron hitting on Anthony Bowens.
The segment saw Bowens turning down Cameron and reminding her and the fans that he’s openly gay. This caused the crowd to erupt in a massive pop, including loud chants of “He’s Gay!”
Following the segment, Bowens took to Twitter to react to the positive reaction to his promo. He wrote,
“If ya told me years ago, I’d have an arena chanting HE’S GAY at me in the most POSITIVE of ways, I’d say you’re crazy. It’s pretty cool to see how far we’ve come. Still more work to do. Happy Pride #AEWRampage This app has been beyond negative and atrocious since the sale, so I’m happy The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass have been able to spread love and positivity on here this weekend.”

Additionally, Fightful Select is reporting that Billy Gunn and QT Marshall produced the segment, with Marshall directly asking Bowens if he was cool with the plans. Bowens was reportedly “all for it” and thought it was an awesome idea. The segment was actually planned for AEW Dynamite at one point, but it was moved to Rampage so it could be given more time.
The clip now has over five million views on Twitter alone.
