A conflict between Jade Cargill and Shayna Baszler that took place several months before Cargill’s kayfabe injury came to light earlier, as we had reported. This spread out from an argument following their three-way bout at WWE’s Clash at the Castle in 2024, where Cargill had some critical words about MMA athlete Baszler. She suggested that Baszler needed to “learn how to work”, after an unplanned tap out from Cargill.
This reportedly sparked a backstage unrest, as Cargill’s monologue on “demanding respect” hit a nerve with her peers in the locker room, with many deducing that it was an indirect reference to her issue with Baszler.
Further information about the issues mounting around Cargill backstage have been divulged by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. According to the publication, Cargill tends to dodge accountability for in-ring mishaps and exhibits a glaring lack of deference for her fellow wrestlers.
One such example is an altercation where Cargill showed Baszler a bruised arm, further highlighting her complaint about Baszler needing to “learn how to work”. Baszler reportedly retorted that should she have desired to intentionally hurt Cargill, it wouldn’t have been disguised. This further escalated the prevailing tension.
The situation was aggravated by Cargill’s habit of blaming her colleagues for match-related setbacks. Baszler ultimately decided to confront her directly, given its repetitive nature. The scene became more intense as Cargill reportedly became aggressive towards Shayna. Nonetheless, Baszler held her own.
Eye-witness accounts from the episode revealed how other wrestlers and higher-ups had to intervene to break apart Cargill and Baszler in an attempt to diffuse the situation. Later, Baszler was requested to collaborate with the production team for her upcoming television match’s pivotal moments.
