On a recent edition of the “Battleground Podcast,” Athena discussed wanting to defend the ROH Women’s World Championship in Japan and even taking it on a world tour.

On wanting to take the ROH title to STARDOM or NJPW: “I’ve done it before with Miyu Yamashita on the indie scene. Because of the filming schedule, it’s not quite possible without Tony’s [Tony Khan] approval. I would love to go to Japan. I would love to take the Ring of Honor Championship to Japan and defend it there, particularly for New Japan or Stardom. I have always wanted to wrestle over there, especially for those two companies in particular. When I was first on the Indies, New Japan did not have women’s wrestling so it’s even more of a ‘I need it.’ Those are dreams I have. I want to go to the UK. The UK scene has changed immensely since I was on the independent scene. I would love to go back to Australia.”
On a world tour for the title: “I would love to take the Ring of Honor Championship on a world tour, I really would. Now, I’m more focused on trying to see what’s next for me because I don’t know. I would love to promote Ring of Honor on a world level. We get to go to Canada. My dream right now is to go to Japan. That is a dream, that is a style that I have emulated more than anything else and I know those women hit so hard and they are so phenomenal and they train beast mode 24/7 and that’s something I have always wanted to be immersed in.”
Athena will defend the ROH Women’s World Title against Billie Starkz next week at ROH Final Battle 2023.

Athena, the current ROH Women’s World Champion, recently expressed her desire to defend the title in Japan and embark on a world tour. In a recent episode of the “Battleground Podcast,” Athena discussed her aspirations and dreams for her championship reign.
During the podcast, Athena mentioned her previous experience wrestling in Japan with Miyu Yamashita on the indie scene. However, due to the filming schedule, she would need Tony Khan’s approval to make it possible. Athena expressed her love for Japan and her desire to take the Ring of Honor Championship there, specifically to New Japan or Stardom. She explained that when she was first on the independent scene, New Japan did not have women’s wrestling, making it even more of a dream for her. Athena also mentioned her interest in wrestling in the UK and Australia, as both scenes have evolved significantly since she was last involved.
Athena’s ultimate goal is to take the Ring of Honor Championship on a world tour. She expressed her desire to promote Ring of Honor on a global level and mentioned that they already have the opportunity to go to Canada. However, her dream is to go to Japan, as she has always admired the hard-hitting style and the dedication of Japanese women wrestlers.
In addition to Athena’s ambitions, it was announced that she will defend her ROH Women’s World Title against Billie Starkz at ROH Final Battle 2023. This match will be a significant moment in Athena’s championship reign and will showcase her skills as a dominant champion.
On the AEW front, several matches and segments have been announced for next week’s Winter Is Coming special edition of Dynamite.
