Several weeks prior, news broke that ESPN commentator, Joe Tessitore, would be joining WWE’s expert commentary team. In the 2024 WWE SummerSlam countdown pre-show, Tessitore’s official inclusion in the team was announced by veteran WWE commentator, Michael Cole. Tessitore was introduced formally and had a brief exchange with Cole before the latter announced Tessitore’s imminent debut night.
As per what Cole informed, Tessitore will take up the mantle from September 2, 2024, Monday Night Raw at the Ball Arena located in Denver, Colorado. Post this, Cole will be transferring to Friday Night SmackDown, presumably assuming the play-by-play role.
Yet, it remains unclear how the commentary teams will be realigned. Are Wade Barrett and Corey Graves going to work alongside Tessitore? Will Pat McAfee transition to SmackDown to join Cole, or will his obligations to College GameDay result in his departure and the teams be realigned as Graves/Cole and Barrett/Tessitore?
The tweet from the WWE account reads: “As just announced by @MichaelCole, @JoeTessESPN will be debut on the commentary team on #WWERaw on September 2 live from Denver, CO, with Cole heading back to #SmackDown!”
No matter what, do not miss Tessitore’s debut on Raw. Keep an eye on eWrestlingNews for any more updates about this change in the WWE commentary team.
