The ever-changing dynamics of WWE’s Women’s Tag Team Division saw a remarkable shift on August 31, 2024, at WWE’s highly anticipated ‘Bash in Berlin’ event. Dynamic duo Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill made a mark by dethroning The Unholy Union, comprising Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, capturing the coveted WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship titles.
Belair and Cargill are no strangers to these titles, having held them once before for a 42-day stint. Their initial victory happened at WWE Backlash: France facing the renowned Kabuki Warriors from Damage CTRL (Asuka and Kairi Sane) on May 4th. Unfortunately, The Unholy Union snatched the titles from them later at WWE Clash at the Castle: Scotland on June 15th.
As recently as August 8th, the pair found themselves with an opportunity to reclaim the titles during WWE Friday Night SmackDown #1302. Alas, a win on points was the outcome owing to an untimely interference from Blair Davenport. This act, however, ensured they earned their shot at the title bout of today’s premium live event.
With a 77 day tenure as champions, The Unholy Union managed to snag the tenth spot in the list of longest WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship runs. Interestingly, this run pales in comparison to the 120-day reign of The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce), a duet sitting at the ninth position. The new reign of Belair and Cargill ignites curiosity regarding its length. Should they manage to hold the titles until WrestleMania 41 Saturday, they will clock in at 231 days, securing the second rank just a notch below The Kabuki Warriors who boast of a 278-day tenure.
The official WWE Twitter handle released a tweet stating, “We have NEW CHAMPIONS! #WWEBash”.
