Bron Breakker became the Intercontinental Champion, besting Sami Zayn at SummerSlam 2024, WWE event hosted in Cleveland, OH.
After being defeated by Zayn at Money in the Bank 2024 – a WWE event in Toronto, Breakker seized his second opportunity by triumphing over Ilja Dragunov by the referee’s verdict on Monday Night RAW. Subsequent to his loss, known as “The Unpredictable Badass”, Breakker amped up his fighting spirit and has displayed unflinching tenacity since then.
Zayn, who had vanquished GUNTHER — the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history — at WWE WrestleMania XL held at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, managed to uphold his championship in a continual rivalry with Chad Gable in the previous months. However, this time, the Underground Underdog was unable to secure a victory.
A few forceful tackles on route made the victory possible. Ultimately, a high-impact charge post a full-speed run of the ropes was enough to bring down Zayn.

This marks Breakker’s inaugural title victory in the main roster, subsequent to his two NXT Championship wins and a single NXT Tag Team Championship win (in partnership with Baron Corbin).
