During the majority of 2021, Sonya Deville served as an authority figure alongside Adam Pearce in the WWE. She adopted the role of an assertive assistant manager, not shying away from flexing her authoritative muscles. Deville’s shift into this role came after a “Loser Leaves WWE” match loss to Mandy Rose during SummerSlam 2020.

In a recent discussion on “The Ariel Helwani Show” with host Ariel Helwani, Deville expressed her feelings about her absence from the ring throughout 2021. She remarked,

“I missed wrestling, but I enjoyed that role. What I hoped for was to bring more depth and character to the role. I desired for her to influence others and manipulate situations more. I was anticipating a significant and impactful storyline after my GM tenure because I had generated so much animosity. The audience despised me due to my abuse of authority. I was wishing for a storyline that would springboard me into that top-tier female contender spot.”

Continuing her thoughts, Deville added, “Many inferred that the creatives missed a trick. Personally, I’ve never been one to point fingers at creative because I believe we have a degree of control over our fate. I’m not sure they were prepared to crown me as the top contender just yet. The narrative had been set, my character’s insistence and the drama involving Naomi and Bianca [Belair] was all very well-directed. The audience was riled up, but then the big, expected storyline did not materialize.”

In a lighter vein, female wrestler Asuka was recently probed on Twitter about her preference for her final match venue- WrestleMania or Tokyo Dome. She made an amusing choice of Tokyo Dome but added a caveat. Her condition was that it had to be a WrestleMania pay-per-view event in which she could make a grand entrance on the back of Godzilla.

You can see the tweet she posted about this below:

“Easy. Tokyo Dome… but only if it’s WrestleMania and I enter on Godzilla’s back. 🦖🔥😈 https://t.co/9M77gLnRRO”
