Asuka Dethrones Sasha Banks, Regains RAW Women’s Title At WWE SummerSlam

At WWE SummerSlam, Sasha Banks defended the WWE RAW Women’s Championship against Asuka. Earlier in the show, Banks helped Bayley retain the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship against Asuka. After the match, the Golden Role Models beat the challenger down. Banks immediately took control by targeting the same knee Bayley focused on during their match. Asuka rocked Banks with several kicks, and the champion tried walking away. Asuka stopped her, and the fight returned to the ring.

Banks dodged a kick, so Asuka’s leg smashed off the ring post. Banks hit a devastating powerbomb off the apron, and Asuka barely avoided getting counted out. A running boot rocked Asuka, but the challenger trapped Banks in an ankle lock. Asuka hit a DDT off the top rope, which left both women down.

Banks rocked Asuka with double knees to the face for a near fall. Asuka dodged a Frog Splash and trapped Banks in the Asuka Lock, but the champion escaped. Banks rolled out of the Asuka Lock, turned it into a pin attempt, and rolled into a Banks Statement. Asuka rolled through and locked in the Asuka Lock, but th champion escaped. In a repeeat from Bayley’s match, Banks dodged a hip attack, but Bayley didn’t sacrifice herself the way Banks did in her match. Asuka attacked Bayley. Banks tried to capitalize, but Asuka made her tap out to the Asuka Lock. Bayley tried to comfort a heartbroken Banks after the match.
