In a recent episode of his podcast “The ARN Show,” WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson opened up about his favourite tag team partners, personal preferences for opponents in singles matches, and other captivating insights from his career.
The podcast’s offerings featured the following highlights:
When asked about his standout singles match from his illustrious career, Anderson said, “I was always more of a tag team guy — that is, aside from the TV title matches. I have a fondness for the TV Title from when I returned to the ring. Muta was the reigning TV champion at that time, and we had a momentous TV Title match that lasted approximately 15 minutes. I believed it was a solid match, and I was fortunate to secure the title from Muta, who was a big name in the sport by then.”
On discussing his choice of counterparts for singles matches, Anderson named a few ring legends. “A match with Bobby Eaton is bound to be great. His talent made every move better. I’m also fond of duelling with William Regal and his European style of wrestling — the lifts, the unique hooks, holds and maneuvers. One moment you’re facing him, the next moment you find yourself on your back. That European style is simply mesmerizing. I’ve also had some great matches with Steve Austin.”
When questioned about his top three tag team partners, Anderson responded, “Tully (Blanchard) undoubtedly takes the top slot. Then comes Ole (Anderson), from whom I gained a wealth of experience. One of the things I admired about Ole was how hard he made anyone fight to earn a victory over him. He wouldn’t go down with just one punch or kick. You had to really work it with Ole, and that taught me a lot. Lastly, Bobby Eaton, my best friend and an absolute pro, holds the third spot. I adore the man.”
