Arn Anderson On Sting Getting An Unfair Shake At WrestleMania 31: ’15 Years Too Late’

Arn Anderson is one of the greatest in the ring and behind the scenes to strap on a pair of wrestling boots, and “The Enforcer” goes into detail of the ongoings of WrestleMania 31 this week on “ARN” with Conrad Thompson.
Arn delivers one helluva spinebuster regarding his thoughts on how a major star like Sting was showcased in the “Showcase Of The Immortals,” stating that the timing of his entry into the WWE fold played a factor, but so did the handling of the then soon-to-be WWE Hall Of Famer.
“Well I thought it was 15 years too late. We can all look back at ‘want to be’s’ and I’m a guy that thinks Taker should still be riding his wave of his undefeated Streak. That’s just me. You only get one crack at some stuff. Sting being the last hold-out would’ve been nice if Sting would’ve came across when WCW was done and be pushed like the star that he was.”
With all the amazing athleticism that went down before this bout (Arn cites Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins as his example), Anderson thinks it puts this type of match in an already compromising position, but what really showed how WWE pictured Sting was all in the lines fed to the commentary team.
“To try to reset the audience, all it did was give the announcers (and I know this was fed to ’em) they just buried Sting. ‘Minnow in a big pond,’ you know? Total condescending, ‘Guy’s out of his element,’ ‘this is WrestleMania now,’ ‘you’re just a small minnow in a huge lake,’ whatever all the commentary was exactly. It was meant to just basically just beat you over the head with ‘We won the war. We’re WWE – we won the war. Here’s your big star, well, he ain’t a big star here tonight.’
