In a recent episode of the ‘ARN Show’ podcast, Arn Anderson, a WWE Hall of Famer, shared his experiences of wrestling with The Renegade along with his thoughts on comparisons between Cody and Dustin Rhodes. Here’s a snapshot of some highlights from the discussion:
Anderson commented on wrestling The Renegade during his time in WCW, admitting it was one of his worst matches to date. According to Anderson, they attempted to portray The Renegade as a version of the Ultimate Warrior – a concept that caused legal complications due to its close resemblance. The Renegade, who was unseasoned and essentially a novice in wrestling, had a background as a dancer in a club. The transition to wrestling, unfortunately, did not go smoothly, and The Renegade did not manage to make a mark in the arena.
When queried about who was a more skilled wrestler between Dustin and Cody Rhodes, Anderson found it a tough call. He stated that it’s unfair to compare the two as they come from different eras and exhibit distinct characters. He praised Cody for the effort he put into highlighting his ambitions in the wrestling world. His ongoing narrative, according to Anderson, revolves around gaining victory at WrestleMania and securing a championship- a feat previously accomplished by his father.
On Dustin’s wrestling prowess, Anderson shared how remarkably Dustin had created the character of Goldust – a creative ingenuity evident in his career. He also lauded Dustin’s excellent teaming with Ricky Steamboat. Ultimately, he couldn’t decide between the two and declared it a tie.
