AOP (Akam and Rezar) were released by WWE in 2020 after being used on the main roster and NXT. They haven’t been wrestling since leaving WWE.

Although they attempted to begin their WES promotion with shows in Europe last year, it didn’t work out. Fightful Select is reporting that there had been talk about the tag team returning. It was first reported earlier this month that WWE was interested in them again.

Sources told the site that AOP “have actually been under contract with WWE since 2022, though we haven’t confirmed as much.”

They were told, “It was before Vince McMahon came back because that put a halt on all signings besides new recruits.”

However, there have been a couple of deals in the past few months. The AOP ensured that Paul Ellering had a notable role in the negotiations. The report stated that the internal travel list showed them on the schedule in May.

Pwinsider is reporting that there’s been a lot of talk about AOP and Ellering returning soon, most notably for the NXT brand. There was talk about them being on the schedule for week’s episode of WWE NXT.
