Anthony Bowens Hypes Full Gear 2024, Mina Shirakawa Shares Her Plans

Anthony Bowens recently joined the “ROAR Around the Ring” podcast where he elaborated on The Acclaimed’s forthcoming match at AEW Full Gear 2024, referring to the game as “redemption day.”

The Acclaimed is set to face teams The Kings of the Black, The Outrunners, alongside the reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions, Private Party.

Bowens expressed, “It’s thrilling. To be honest, I haven’t been a part of a match of this intensity in New Jersey since our showdown with Keith Lee and Swerve in 2022. The last time we stepped into the ring in New Jersey was quite an emotional event as Billy contemplated retirement. He unstrapped his boots and left them right there in the ring. So, this is somewhat a juniors-day at Full Gear in New Jersey, with the tag team titles also up for grabs. Both Max and I are hoping to secure these titles for the second time around, in our attempt to establish The Acclaimed as one of the best ever tag teams. It’s going to be a memorable evening with my friends and family present. Can’t wait.”

In a recent conversation with Pro Wrestling Illustrated, Mina Shirakawa disclosed her future plans including the duration of her stay in America and her AEW wrestling partnership with Mariah May.

Shirakawa and May are scheduled to host a “champagne celebration” at the Full Gear 2024 event on Saturday evening.

The highlights from the podcast are shared below:

The contrast between British, Japanese, and American wrestling: “In my opinion, British wrestling resonates greatly with Japanese wrestling, and it always delights the fans when we present a technical wrestling show. My signature figure four move resulted in a roaring cheer from the crowd when I used it to win the title by making the champion tap out. This makes me believe that I made the right choice of being a professional wrestler. I find American-style wrestling to be more dynamic in nature. I stick to my signature wrestling style in all big matches, changing just the moves I execute.”

Her plans for staying in the US: “I know Mariah (May) has been awaiting me for a while now, and I intend to stick around in the United States till she overcomes her feeling of loneliness. My aim here is to celebrate her championship win and participate in a series of matches as part of [our team] Rose Gold.”

About the change in her friendship with May since the latter’s turn on Toni Storm: “Our bond remains just as strong as always. We continue being the best of friends. However, her recent strange behavior does worry me a bit… but I’m sure she would soon settle down with me by her side.”
