New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) has revealed that All Elite Wrestling (AEW) wrestler Anna Jay is set to participate in a four-way match to clinch the #1 contender spot for Mercedes Mone’s NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. This clash will take place at NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed.
The official statement reveals the following:
Firstly, the Fighting Spirit Unleashed 2024 competitors have been announced. This event will take place at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium on November 8th.
This year’s G1 Climax winner, Zack Sabre Jr., IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion David Finlay, and STRONG Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd lead the participant line-up.
Returning to American soil are the up-and-coming stars Shota Umino and Yota Tsuji, who continue to spread the “Fighting Spirit” in the U.S. They will be joined by the BULLET CLUB’s KENTA.
Tomohiro Ishii, a regular competitor on the U.S scene, is also making a comeback after participating in various contender bouts overseas throughout the year.
Importantly, a four-way match is slated where the victor secures an opportunity to compete for Mercedes Moné’s STRONG Women’s Championship.
AEW sensation Anna Jay is already confirmed as the first participant. Having taken part in this year’s STARDOM 5STAR Grand Prix, Jay is eager for more international wins. More competitors will be unveiled soon.
