Vince Russo was no fan of the booking of Becky Lynch that the WWE Universe saw during this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW.
During the show, Lynch made it clear she intends to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match later this month and challenge WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley.
On a recent edition of the “Wrestle Binge” podcast, Russo questioned Lynch being positioned as a possible challenger given her recent loss to Nia Jax. He said,
“She (Becky Lynch) just lost to Nia Jax, that’s what I was thinking of it. As she was walking down, I am saying to myself, ‘You just lost to Nia Jax, and are we supposed to forget that?
“They did the same thing with (CM) Punk. Punk said specifically, ‘I am winning the Royal Rumble and the last one I am eliminating is Drew McIntyre.’ Now, Becky again as a babyface is saying, ‘I think you (Rhea Ripley) might be better than me.’ So, if Becky Lynch doesn’t win the Royal Rumble, I guess Rhea Ripley is better than her. They’re writing all these lines that really have heavy heavy consequences bro.”
The WWE Royal Rumble will take place on January 27. The show will be the 37th annual Rumble event and the seventh to feature a Men’s and Women’s Rumble match.

The recent booking of Becky Lynch on Monday Night RAW has sparked controversy among fans and wrestling experts. Vince Russo, a former WWE writer, expressed his dissatisfaction with Lynch’s positioning as a possible challenger for the Women’s Royal Rumble match and the WWE Women’s World Championship.
During the episode, Lynch declared her intention to win the Women’s Royal Rumble and face off against current champion Rhea Ripley. However, Russo questioned this decision, citing Lynch’s recent loss to Nia Jax. He wondered if fans were expected to forget about that defeat and questioned the consequences of such writing choices.
Russo drew a parallel to CM Punk’s previous statements about winning the Royal Rumble and eliminating Drew McIntyre. He pointed out that Lynch, as a babyface (good guy), was now saying that Ripley might be better than her. If Lynch doesn’t win the Royal Rumble, it could imply that Ripley is indeed superior. Russo emphasized the weight of these lines and their potential impact on the characters’ credibility.
The WWE Royal Rumble is scheduled for January 27th and will be the 37th annual event. It will feature both a Men’s and Women’s Rumble match, adding to the excitement and unpredictability of the event.
