Alexander Wolfe Comments On WWE Release: ‘I Can Look Back On Six Wonderful Years At WWE’

It’s not all bad for Alexander Wolfe following his release from WWE, as he’s choosing to look back at things in a positive light.

The former NXT star (real name Axel Tischer) was a budget-cut casualty as WWE released several members of their roster and personnel, earlier this week. The 34-year old spoke with Sport 1 (via Google Translate) to discuss his release from the company.

“Well, I received a call from WWE on Wednesday and was informed that an extension of my contract was not wanted. It was officially not a dismissal, because my contract runs on the 15th [of] June. From then on, however, I am no longer a wrestler from World Wrestling Entertainment. Strangely enough, it hit me less hard than I would have expected. I’m quite calm and cheerful, I don’t feel like self-pity. Firstly, I am generally a positive person, secondly, I can look back on six wonderful years at WWE with great and unique experiences, thirdly, I have had a plan B for a long time, which I am now addressing – and I also have little time to complain about, because I now have to organize a large move, remove furniture, cancel subscriptions, everything around it. It goes on and I am good things that I can now apply everything I have learned elsewhere where it is just as appreciated – maybe even more.”

Wolfe touted budget cuts due to COVID-19 as the reasoning behind why he was released from the company.

“As a reason, I was given the pandemic time that savings are still necessary due to the worldwide event restrictions. Well, that’s better than no justification at all, but you ultimately know: WWE earns so much money that no dismissal is really mandatory. But it’s as it is. The machine continues to run, the parts are replaced. I understand, that’s the business. I can say so much: I am proud of what I have achieved. I know I could have achieved more, but with a league like WWE you don’t have everything in your own hands. You have to control what you can control, I think I have nothing to blame myself in this respect.”
