IMPACT Bound For Glory is this Saturday and to help add fuel to that BFG fire, Alex Shelley sat down with Matt Striker to re-watch one of his memorable matches against The Young Bucks during their short tenure in TNA.
Shelley relived his successful TNA Tag Team Title defense at Bound For Glory 2010 as he and Chris Sabin tagged against Matt & Nick Jackson. While watching the bout, Shelley was asked if back then he knew of the star power of these two young brothers.
“Oh, no doubt. I helped get them their foot in the door for TNA,” Shelley noted. “We wrestled them in 2009 at the PWG and I was absolutely floored with how awesome they were. So it was a no-brainer to me but at the time the wrestling landscape was quite different and it’s a struggle to actually get them a try-out. Once they got in though everybody loved them.”
Striker followed up by asking Alex about the different beast that tag team wrestling is and if this particular match, they had furthering the genre of tag team wrestling on his mind. Alex doesn’t think that to be the case as he aims to be pushed to his limits every time, but can’t deny the unique ability of The Young Bucks.
“I just know I have to think differently when I’m wrestling the Young Bucks. There’s a higher level of performance involved, but that’s all there is to it,” Shelley said.
