During a recent conversation with the acclaimed sports publication, Sports Illustrated, professional wrestler Alex Hammerstone discussed the reasons behind his decision to split from TNA Wrestling.

Below are a few noteworthy aspects from the interview:

Addressing the conclusion of his TNA stint, Hammerstone shared, “At some point, perception becomes reality. So there I was, with a growing sense that the company had ceased to value me and perhaps I needed to change tack. They might have been in search of something that I wasn’t delivering. However, this was never discussed explicitly. I would have certainly appreciated a straightforward chat where they could say, ‘hey, creatively, this is what we’re envisioning. Hence, we would like to see more of this from you.’ But this never occurred. It always felt like they knew where to direct other wrestlers but were uncertain with me.”

When questioned about his match with Josh Alexander not chosen by TNA for inclusion in the 2024 End of Year awards, Hammerstone was expressive. He said, “Regardless if it’s a small fraction of the audience or not. I’m not concerned about losing the poll. Just ensure my presence in the poll. Eventually, I began to feel as if the company was losing faith in me. I’m not sure of the origin of this sentiment, and certainly I’m not placing blame on anyone other than myself. However, when you start viewing things in this light, it manifests into reality. So, it felt stemming from this belief, like why should I keep faith in myself if the company lacks a direction for me? Why should I make continuous efforts? Of course, I never relented, but emotionally, I was drained.”
